The Sea of Galilee is Israel’s largest freshwater lake. On a beautiful February afternoon, it was the setting of a pleasant cruise I took with 40 other pilgrims from the Philippines.
We sailed on a so-called “Jesus Boat”, a wooden vessel much bigger that the 1st century AD boat discovered in the muddy shores a few years back. Guided by a priest, we reflected on episodes of the Gospels recounting Christ’s ministry.
But after prayer, the mood quickly became festive, as we danced to ABBA, to much laughter and teasing.
I fixed my gaze on the view and the serenity of the waters, as flocks of birds flew overhead. Amidst the gaiety and music, I found peace in the Holy Land.
