The average Malaysian shoplot back alley isn’t pretty. Narrow and grimy, it’s often crawling with roaches, rodents and the occasional stray cat navigating the sewage pipes and open canals. Laman Seni 7 in Shah Alam, less than an hour away from Kuala Lumpur, is an exception. An art competition brought out local artists who used various mediums to express their messages on the walls, incorporating existing architectural features, and on the road itself.
